Frequently asked about charter airports

How many airports does SkyAccess cover?
SkyAccess indexes 5,000+ airports worldwide where FAA Part 135 partner operators publish empty leg or charter inventory. Coverage skews heavily to the US (FAA Part 135 only authorizes US carriers) but includes major international airports across Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, and key gateways in Latin America and Asia.
Can a private jet land at any airport?
Almost. Private jets can use thousands of general-aviation airports in addition to commercial airports. The actual landing airport depends on aircraft category (heavier jets need longer runways), FBO availability, customs clearance for international flights, and noise / curfew restrictions at the airport. SkyAccess airport pages show the FAA airport class and longest runway length for each indexed airport.
What's the difference between an IATA and an ICAO code?
ICAO codes are 4-letter International Civil Aviation Organization identifiers used in flight planning and ATC (e.g. KJFK, KTEB, EGLL). IATA codes are 3-letter International Air Transport Association identifiers used in commercial booking and consumer-facing tools (e.g. JFK, TEB, LHR). Most major airports have both; smaller GA airports often have only an ICAO code.
Do private jets fly out of commercial airport terminals?
No. Private jets arrive at and depart from Fixed-Base Operator (FBO) terminals — a separate private aviation facility at the airport. Major US airports have multiple FBOs (Signature, Jet Aviation, Atlantic, Million Air); the operator picks which FBO based on fuel contracts and slot allocation. Passengers don't go through TSA at the FBO — the FBO handles its own security clearance.
