Republic Airport

Republic Airport (KFRG) is a reliever on Long Island, sitting in East Farmingdale about 30 miles east of midtown Manhattan and 12 miles east of LaGuardia. For NYC-area charter operators it is the eastern alternative to Teterboro — a less congested ramp, lower fees, and convenient access to the East End and the Hamptons. There is no scheduled airline service, just business and general aviation. Atlantic Aviation and Sheltair are the two main FBOs. The primary runway 14/32 is 6,827 feet, comfortably handling heavy jets and ultra-long-range equipment with normal stage lengths; secondary runway 1/19 is 5,516 feet and serves lighter operations or crosswind conditions. KFRG's field elevation is 82 feet, so density altitude is not a planning concern, but winter weather and northeast coastal storms do drive cancellations and diversions in season. The airport's defining use case for SkyAccess flyers is the Hamptons run — KFRG is one of the standard staging points for empty-leg repositioning to and from East Hampton (KHTO) and Montauk (KMTP), particularly Thursday–Sunday in summer. Helicopter and seaplane connections from KFRG to East Hampton are widely available; ground transport into Manhattan is typically 60–90 minutes depending on Long Island Expressway traffic.
