The Bombardier Challenger 600 series is a family of business jets manufactured by Canadair of Bombardier Aerospace. With 1,600 Challengers in service, the fleet has logged an impressive 7.3 million hours over 4.3 million flights. Introduced in 2006, the Bombardier Challenger 605 is a direct development of the Challenger 604. Powered by two General Electric CF34-3B engines with 8,729 pounds of thrust and using 258 gallons per hour (GPH), the Bombardier Challenger 605 can travel up to 4,150 nautical miles operating under NBAA IFR with 4 passengers. This jet is designed with lower weight and higher thrust than its predecessors, as well as larger cabin windows and a new tail-cone. The cockpit is equipped with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics, providing 55% more display space and less empty weight. The Bombardier Challenger 605 offers larger and higher positioned windows, an upgraded galley, a revamped cabin and cockpit, and upgraded avionics, along with an increased payload. The cabin volume for the Bombardier Challenger 605 is 1,150 cubic feet. Typical configuration features 9 passenger and 2 crew seats. With a luggage capacity of approximately 15 pieces, the Challenger 605 offers private jet passengers the best possible comfort. The 605 also boasts a 200 lb. payload improvement over its predecessor thanks to optimal weight distribution and improved fuel economy. The Challenger is designed to have seamless and straightforward maintenance procedures, which reduces the cost of operations for owners, operators, and end-users. Production of the Bombardier Challenger 605 ended in 2016, with a total of 290 jets being manufactured. Of those, 287 remain in operation, with 6.3% being for sale. North America holds the largest percentage of the fleet with 58%, and Asia has 21%. An additional 17% is operated in Europe. Vref values a 2007 Challenger 605 at $8.3 million and a 2015 model at $16 million.
